Well done Athena, you've used the cardboard very cleverly to make this air raid shelter. Thank you for participating so enthusiastically in all the homework.

Another clever way to show the corrugated iron roof, Well done Callum.

This shelter has lots of home comforts inside, even a bed for the dog!

Zach showed how people used the roof of their shelter to grow as much of their own food as they could in their garden. Zach even managed to fit a working circuit in his shelter for those longer air raids. Well done again & thank you for taking part in our homework so creatively.

End of topic celebrations in Gateway Base

What a great way to end our current World War 2 topic with a celebration and singalong. 

Thank you to all who attended but for those who were not able to join us here is a short "Merry Christmas" from us all. 

Christingle Service, West Base 2, Osprey Quay Campus

Don't forget to bring your oranges in to school tomorrow ready for our trip to St John's church tomorrow afternoon.

We leave Osprey Quay at 1.45 and you are welcome to walk with us once you have completed the permission slip on the letter your child brought home on Monday. We will return to Osprey Quay at the usual time. If you wish to collect your child from St John's Church we will be leaving at 3pm to walk back to Osprey Quay.

Please remember to tell your child's teacher that you are taking them before you go.

Gateway Learning Base: Christmas SIngalong

This afternoon we have been practising for our Christmas Singalong.

A reminder: On Wednesday Learners in Gateway Base have been invited to come to school in 1940 Wartime costumes for our end of unit celebrations. Boys, don't forget you would have been wearing shorts even at this time of year Brrr (Don't worry we have the heating on in School!)

Friends of IPACA Christmas Film Night

The Friends of IPACA are organising a Film Night at IPACA Southwell Campus.

It is on Wednesday 16th December starting at 3.30.

The film will be Santa Buddies: The Legend of Santa Paws.  

If you would like your child/ren to attend and have yet to purchase tickets, they are available from IPACA Southwell Campus Office.

Please buy your tickets by the end of school on Tuesday so that  Father Christmas knows how many gifts to bring.

Tickets are £2. This includes a cookie, drink and gift. 

Open to all IPACA children.

IPACA Choir at Easton Promise 2015

The IPACA Choir helped launch the Easton Promise Event on Friday 11th December 2015.

The Mayor of Portland, Rod Wild, opened the event and thanked IPACA for supporting the local community.

The Reverend Chris Briggs then led an open air carol service by the lit Christmas tree in Easton Square.

The event supported the Anning Charity Julia's House.

The IPACA choir, led by Mrs Fryer, sang Little Donkey, Jingle Bells, Away in a Manger, Rudolph the Red Nose Reindeer and We wish you a Merry Christmas.

Mr Smith gave out bells, for the younger pupils to support the older singers, in two of the songs.

Three guitar soloists, Eva, Athena and Billy from IPACA Osprey Quay and IPACA Southwell performed for the assembled crowds.

The Reverend Chris Briggs said afterwards, that he felt it was the best year yet and that he looked forward to much more community engagement with IPACA in the future.

The Chairman of the Portland Community Partnership, Andy Matthews, also took time to thank the pupils for singing at this event, as did many of the assembled crowd.

 Local shop owners were pleased that so many members of the local community turned up to support this event.

And some of us even got to meet Elsa and Olaf.

Mrs Hayes joins us for Celebration Assembly in the Gateway Base

This morning, all the Learners in the Gateway Base at Royal Manor received a handshake along with their well deserved certificates from Mrs Hayes. 19 Mathletics certificates and a fantastic array of Learners and Citizens along side Super Smiley certificates all were achieved this week! It was a lot of clapping and handshaking! 

There was an extra special reward for one Learner, Tia, who has been an amazing inspiration to us all by topping the Acellerated Reader chart with a whopping 200 points!!! Tia has read over 20 books since September clocking up a word count of over 1.3 million read words! Mrs Hayes presented Tia with a book as well as her certificate for 200 points.

Christmas Maths challenges in Gateway Base

Today's maths task was a fun one. We were set the following challenge.

We were set our challenge by some pesky elves!

We worked in small groups and had to discuss and work out how to solve the problem. It was such fun seeing the range of creative problem solving solutions achieved from all our learners. 

It was fantastic to see such a range in creativity and ideas produced by all our Learners. Well done everyone!
