Gateway Base at Osprey Quay Sports day

Today some of our Learners joined Osprey Quay to participate in their Sports day. We had a range of races from traditional running races to egg and spoon and javelin. It was great to compete against a range of year group and to see who the champions were.

We even had the traditional teacher events along with Parent and toddler races. Well done to everyone involved and a big thankyou to all the parents, relatives and friends who came to support our children.

Congratulations to Penn house who were this years champions in a nail biting finish leading by only 1 point.

Fencing with Gateway Base

Some of the Year 5 and 6 students from Gateway Base had the exciting opportunity to try our Fencing during our PE session on Wednesday afternoon.

After learning some of the basic skills, we were then able to kit up and have a go. It was great fun and exciting to try out another new sport. I wonder if we have any future fencing Olympic champions in our group?

Maths and Art in Gateway Base

Yesterday, during our stay and learn session, we continued to explore the links between Maths and Art.

Inspired by a number of 'impossible pictures,' we used precision and measuring skills to create our own.

It was a tricky task but really good fun. Here are some of our finished pieces.

Year 5 Southwell, SPaG - What are they?

As we prepare to go to Maritime House, we have found some interesting technology. What are these? The children are writing a sentence, with an embedded clause, to answer that question.

Year 7 STEM in Gateway Base

This afternoon Year 7 visited the Gateway Learning base to continue work on their STEM communications project.

Learners were given the challenge to produce a product that could be used by the emergency services.

Our first task was to use accurate and precise drawing skills to replicate an image. Some of the work produced was fantastic, what a wonderful group of artists we have.

Next we set to work to develop accurate drawings of the products we have designed; next week we will be working in the maker space, to start manufacturing our final designs.

Gateway Learning Base homework

We have received some fantastic takeaway homework already from our super learners this half term.

Well done to everyone who is producing some fantastic home learning.
