Year 5 Southwell - The Force has arrived

This afternoon we enjoyed a visit from some specialist Jedi Knight teachers as we got started with our new topic.

As part of our induction to the Jedi Academy, we wrote applications

 detailing our special qualities that would make us a superior Jedi Knight. 

We used our special powers and the help of our Jedi teacher to create our own origami x-wing.

  

We also researched some of the characters from the Star Wars stories and made our own set of Top Trump cards.

Perhaps the most important part of our Jedi training was to research and design our light sabre. We read about the special properties of the different crystals and the colour of the light that make up the light sabre. Once we'd completed our research we designed and made our light sabres. We had to take a lot of care rolling the light.

   

Finally, we all tested our light sabres to ensure they worked as we had intended - wonderful they were you will see!

  

  

At the end of the day, once the training session was over we could see a distant Galaxy, far, far away.
